Our Beliefs

1. The Bible is the inspired and only infallible word of God.

2. There is one God externally existent in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and the Holy Ghost.

3. We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, in His atoning death on the cross and His resurrection, and in His ascension to the right hand of God the Father.

4. We believe that you must be born again according to John 3:3 and John 3:16.

5. We believe in the baptism of the Holy Ghost for believers of today who ask for it. (Acts 2:4)

6. We believe in the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit to enable us to live a Holy, Sin-free life. (II Thes 2:13)

7. We believe in the resurrection of both, the saved and the lost, the one to everlasting life, the other to everlasting damnation.

8. We believe in His imminent return to earth to rapture the Church.

9. We believe that Jesus Christ is the same, yesterday, today and forever.

Our History

Never forsake small beginnings...
One cold December evening in 1979, a woman with a vision to reach young people opened her home to a group of nine young adults simply wanting to know more about the Bible.  Elizabeth N. Bolling, affectionately known as "Grandmom" was a Pied Piper of young and old alike.  Her no non-sense approach to scripture and loving and caring heart for "her kids" touched the lives of countless young people over a of period thirty years.  In just weeks after outgrowing her small kitchen, Grandmom and her kids, about thirty in all, held Friday meetings in her son's basement and eventually found regular meeting places in small community halls in Harewood Park and Wilson Point.  For years, hundreds of teens and adults from the surrounding community would attend the "Coffeehouse" every Friday evening for fellowship, Bible Study and praise and worship.  While never advocating a denomination or specific church to attend, the Maranatha Coffeehouse had encouraged its supporters to attend a Bible-believing church.

In the early 90s, a small group of Coffeehouse members began meeting for services on Sunday nights.  Eventually, a church was born.  Now more than 30 years later, Maranatha Chapel is a thriving church in Baltimore County, Maryland. With more than 140 members and a dozen ministries, the church and its vision in help others grow in their relationship with the Lord and to reach the community with the Gospel.  "Look among the nations and be utterly amazed.  For I am going to do something in your days that you would not believe, even if it were told you." Habakkuk 1:5

After years of renting halls and meeting in various locations, Maranatha Chapel purchased its current facility at 3-5 Bowley’s Quarters Road.  Grandmom Bolling (who went home to be with the Lord in May of 2007) was able to see her vision come to pass.
